About College

   Our College is situated in a rural and hilly area, catering to the educational needs of economically backward, peasant families and worker's families. From 1995 to 2002, the College was managed as an unaided institution. But now it is an aided institution affiliated to the Shivaji University, Kolhapur. The College, however, has been recognized under 2 (f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act.                

                  The College is situated in a campus area of 9.5 acres. It has 8 UG special  programmes: 7 programmes under the Arts Stream and 1 programme in the  Commerce Stream. PG courses are provided to the needy students through the Distance  Education Centre. The College has 21 permanent teachers and 6 temporary teachers. The College also has 8 non-teaching staff members to look after the administrative matters. The College offers seven special subjects for undergraduate programmes in the Arts Facuity namely, Marathi, Hindi, English, Economics, History, Political science and Sociology. Under the Commerce faculty, there is one UG programme, namely, B.Com, The programmes are useful to the students for pursuing their Postgraduate studies, research and employment.  The College has enriched its curriculum transaction through interactions with the neighborhood. The admissions to the various programmes of the College are on the basis of the academic merit of the students. As there is a junior college run by the parent institution, first preference is, however, given to the students from this junior college and the remaining seats are filled up on the basis of academic merit. Academic calendar is prepared well in advance and the college adheres to it strictly. The College encourages teachers to make a teaching plan and adhere to it strictly. Term-wise teaching plans are prepared by the teachers. At the end of the term, a syllabus completion report is submitted to the Principal through the Head of the Department. Teachers engage extra classes, whenever necessary, to complete the syllabus. The lecture method is mainly used for teaching. The students joining the college are provided proper orientation to the degree programme, its rules and regulations, methods of specialization, assessment and evaluation systems, etc in the bridge course conducted every year.  Welcome function is organized at the commencement of the session for the first year students. 14 teachers have Ph.D. Degree, 13teachers have M.Phil. Degree. Four teachers of the college are research guides. 4 teachers have completed Minor Research Projects of UGC. The teachers have many research publications to their credit. Four teachers of the college are appointed as NSS Programme Officers. Various extension and outreach activities undertaken by NSS volunteers of the college are Community development, Health and Hygiene awareness, Environment awareness, social work, blood donation camp and AIDS awareness. The college has several collaborations/linkages for faculty and student exchange and on-the-job training. Number of MoU’s are signed and are functional. There is a huge building of Ladies Hostel in the campus. The college is housed in a single storied building having 33 rooms which include class rooms, library, office, Principal's office, Gymkhana, Staff room, sanitary block for ladies and gents, ladies room etc. A separate vehicle-parking shed is also available. The gymnasium of college has two multigyms, one having seven stations and another having eight stations. The playground and Gymkhana Hall of the college are allowed to be used by outsiders also to ensure maximum utilization of infrastructural facilities. There is also an Advisory committee for the library, with Principal as Chairman, Librarian as Secretary and teaching and non-teaching staff and a student representative as members. The library remains open on all working days from 08.30 a.m to 12:30 noon and later from 03:00 pm to 06:00 pm. The College has a playground and a Gymkhana room for sports activities. Sports materials for volleyball, cricket and chess are provided to students. Students who perform well in sports are given incentives in the form of shields, cups and certificates as well as sportswear and extra diet. Different kinds of recreational/leisure facilities are made  available to the students such as indoor games, outdoor games, nature clubs, debating  clubs, culture club, health club, sports club and competition club. A student magazine is published annually. The Management Board and the College Development Committee meet periodically to discuss and plan various policies and activities for the efficient functioning of the college.

                  The college celebrates national, international days, events and festivals. It has prescribed code of conduct for teachers, students and staff and conducts programmes in this regard. The institution has all-inclusive friendly environment. Certain quality audits on environment are periodically undertaken. Green campus and increase in GER of girl students are the best practices, among others, of the institution. However, the institution promotes gender equity. The college is subscribing to 42 offline periodicals and 5 daily newspapers. The teaching-learning rooms are covered under CCTV cameras with installation of 20 CCTVs in the entire campus. The college reviews its teaching-learning process, structures and methodologies of operations and learning outcomes at periodic intervals through IQAC as per norms.

                  The college has sufficient land for expansion and development of infrastructure. More than 65% faculty is with Ph.D. as the highest qualification and 4 teachers are Ph.D. guides. Through “Eco-Friendly Campus” the college aims to have a clean and green campus.
